Brazil Facts: Brazil
is located in South America. Brazil is the world's
fifth-largest country, occupying almost half of the South
American continent and bordering every country in it except for
Chile and Ecuador. Brazil is the home of many famous sites, such
as the Amazon rainforest, Rio de Janeiro, and Carnival. The
country itself is made up of low level basins of forest and
several mountain ranges. The richness and diversity of Brazil's
fauna is astounding. The country ranks first in the world for
numbers of species of primates, amphibians and plants; third for
bird species; and fourth for species of butterflies and
reptiles. The climate in Brazil is varied. Depending on
location, it can be hot and humid or cool and breezy, but
overall the climate is mild throughout the country.
Register
your trip on-line with the U.S. Embassy in this country.
Millions of Americans travel abroad
every year and encounter no difficulties. However, U.S.
embassies and consulates assist nearly 200,000 Americans each
year who are victims of crime, accident, or illness, or whose
family and friends need to contact them in an emergency. When an
emergency happens, or if natural disaster, terrorism, or civil
unrest strikes during your foreign travel, the nearest U.S.
embassy or consulate can be your source of assistance and
information. By registering your trip, you help the embassy or
consulate locate you when you might need them the most.
Registration is voluntary and costs nothing, but it should be a
big part of your travel planning and security.
